Film Treatment

Production company name: Mumu Productions

The story is about an older man who is obsessed with a young girl that he saw and decided to keep following her due to his attraction to her. He follows her, watches her from his car whilst she’s in her house just getting on with her life as she is completely unaware that she is being watched. After a couple of weeks the girl begins to get an idea that someone is following her as she gets suspicious of always seeing the same car around her, she hears small footsteps as she walks in the night and little clues like that but she doesn’t seem to give it a second thought and puts its down to just a bit of paranoia and doesn’t tell anyone of her suspicions.

But just in case she starts carrying a small pocket knife with her but she didn’t actually believe she will ever have to use it until one night when she was taking a shortcut home and she seems a mysterious man with a hoody on walking behind her for quite a while and he was catching up to her faster and faster. He walks rapidly towards her and taps her on her shoulder and asks for the time and then without thinking she grabs the pocket knife and stabs him numerously and runs off whilst he’s on the floor bleeding. After she stops running it finally sinks in what he’d said and she realises what a big mistake she’s made; because of her paranoia she’d acted out of fear without thinking and killed someone. Whilst all of this happens, her real stalker had been watching what just happened from a distance. From that moment her life turns upside down as she’s ALWAYS paranoid and in fear of her life that she will get caught for stabbing the stranger and now she’s even more scared that she still doesn’t know if she is being stalked or not and she becomes mentally unstable.

Thriller Movies Questionnaire

This is a survey created by my partner Joyce and myself :)
By doing this questionnaire we are hoping to get an idea of what people like in movies and what keeps them entertained. This will help us whilst filming to keep in mind what the survey has showed and to incorporate these things into our fim opening to reach our target audience.

Thriller genre research

Thriller is a genre of literature. Thrillers uses suspense, tension and excitement as the aim elements. Types of thrillers are mainly mainly are mystery and criminal.

Examples of the most popular thriller films are:
1. Psycho (1960)
2. The Godfather (1972)
3. The Dark Knight (2008)
4. Fight Club (1999)
5. Momento (2000)

Well known thriller directors:
1. Alfred Hitchcock
2. Stanley Kubrick
3. William Friedkin
And many more.

There are also many different types of Thrillers. For example:
1. Crime thriller
2. Psychological thriller
3. Mystery thriller
4. Supernatural thriller

This research has showed me that there are many different types of thriller movies which have some similarities but also a lot of differences. The different directors also made every film different to please different audiences although they were all thrillers.
This has given me a wider variety of ideas that my partner and I can put into the opening of our film.
